Fun Slides Making Sliding Fun in Fun New Ways

funslides.jpgWhoa, big news: Fun Slides Toys and Games are "not just Carpet Skates anymore!" (Amazingly, that's the company's trademarked slogan.)

Funslides also reminds us on each page of their website that "Everything comes from God alone...and everything is for his glory (Romans 11:36)." Somewhere up in heaven, Jesus is whoopin' the ass of a few angels in "Mini Carpet Hockey," tipping his crown of thorns at Pops for creating the low-friction sports game after every goal. For His glory, of course.

And before you think I'm totally heartless, I'll cop to thinking the Carpet Skates look pretty awesome. Anything that makes moving across the living room a safety-helmet affair is fine by me.

Seeing this, my first thought was about my friend in college who required extensive surgery to repair his broken leg--surgery that nearly ended his pursuit of a career in firefighting. How did he break his leg? Sliding down the carpeted hallway of our dorm on a piece of cardboard box. One leg out, up in the air, lands on the other leg ... and all sober, so excruciatingly painful.

Sure, it's possible to break a leg on a bike, skateboard, in-line skates, skis, etc ... but all of those things carry with them the knowledge that, yes, you can break your leg. These things--and I'm confused by the website, do I wear a helmet or not while using them?--*seem* safe ... and that's the problem.

"The Super Sliders

These skates are crazy!! I about cracked my head open on the
first try but after that i loved it. They provide hours upon hours of
enjoyment. We even built a ramp on the stairs. I wouldnt suggest this trick for the younger tikes. It gave us the chance to have a
neighborhood club-THE SUPER SLIDERS!

You know it is fun because it is always on the most dangerous toy lists from the parent groups.

You know, it's my little brother's 9th birthday tomorrow. He'd have loved these... if my parents didn't have hardwood floors.
