EternaLight GeneRay X1 Crank Flashlight

generay1.jpgThis isn't a new product—and I'm 90% sure it's sourced from the same place as similar models slapped with a thousand different brands—but you've got to give credit where it's due: naming a crank-powered LED flashlight the "GeneRay X1" is a stroke of antipodal cubic genius.

Only $29.99 each! Out of stock!

The "GeneRay X1" name is a little scary. It makes it seem like these lights will alter DNA or something.

Looks just like the ones I bought at Costco a few years ago in a 2 pack :-)

The copy is amusing:
"Yes, you may have seen lights that look like this before. In fact, some look exactly like this one. But NONE function or perform like it! "

Oh really? Seems like making your product look *identical* to other lights may have been a bad marketing decision--er, unless the light actually *is* just like some other crank flashlights.

I'm not sure the site is fully functional:

This site, operated by MondoBeyondo, Inc. is still a functioning sales platform for the EternaLight products manufactured and sold by EternaLights, LLC. However, the remainder of the site remains as it was in it's finality before the closing of Technology Associates, Inc.

The copyright dates only go to 2004 and the sales brochures seem to be dated 2001.

These are great! My kids never have to replace their batteries and I always have a working flashlight at home. I found mine for 10$ at the Menard's checkout line rather than for 30$ from some anonymous online seller.

I bought one that looks identical to this for under $20 at Canadian Tire. It has 3 blueish LEDs powered by a single 2032 button-sized 3 volt battery. While cranking it, the LEDs are reasonably bright, but stop cranking and it it casts a feeble blue glow. It seems like a good idea, but the novelty of the hand-crank doesn't make up for the lack of performance.

I think that the crank light is licenced by techass from some other factory. I have one - it's OK, works as described, but not amazing.

Their OTHER products are the real gems and worth checking out - the Rav'n, a nearly indestructible LED party light with some cool settings that lasts quite a long time on just 4 AA batteries and the ZzzFlame, an electric LED candle that slowly dims over 15 minutes or so.

I have no affiliation with them, I have just been impressed with their well-designed products.

Aha! Now I understand something that's been messing with my noggin:

"Watch
for Giant Erasor as there
is a great danger of the
human Word Animal being
self-erased. You cannot
comprehend the actual 4 simultaneous days in single
rotation of Earth, as 1 day

Thank you, EternaLight's GeneRay X1!
