Remote-Controlled LED Candle in Real, Vanilla-Scented Wax

smarthomecandle.jpg

I like the concept of a remote-controlled candle, but whether it’s made of vanilla-scented wax or not, this version misses a crucial element: a flame. I can understand why companies wouldn’t want to sell remotely-controlled igniters, but they could be made somewhat safe (putting the candles in glass holders, for example) and LED candles tend to be both sterile and dim.

It would be extremely slick in a Barry and Levon type of way to walk into your apartment, click a single button, and have the whole flicker into Romance Mode.

If you feel the need for safety and prudence in your remote-controlled candles, you can pick up this one from Smarthome for $40.

  1. Halloween Jack says:

This needs to be on X10 or some similar standard so that you can dim the lights and cue up the Barry White at the same time.

  2. Anonymous says:

Acceptable, if and only if the candles are hooked up to a house-wide audio distribution system, and when activated, each individual light plays, at random, either a sample of an anime schoolgirl whimpering, James Brown growling “Yuuuuaaaeah!,” or a shrill German man laughing uncontrollably.
