Giekes' "Camera Sequencer 1": Mechanical Music Visuals

This wonderful bit of hand-made equipment is from "Gieskes"*—he calls it the "Camera Sequencer" and uses it to "make visuals with [his] gameboy music concerts." When you first start watching the video it might not make sense—it didn't to me—but skip to the last third of the video to see the results of the contraption. The contrast between the low-bit music of the Gameboy with the completely mechanical visuals is really nice. Project Page [ via Regine/WMMNA] * I hope I'm getting his name right!

His name is Gijs Gieskes, he’s Dutch (Gijs is a first name) – scrape your throat to pronounce it ;-)

    Very cool, and very inspiring.

I need to get off my butt (*) and work on my mechanical synth.

(* – my butt’s been really busy, actually, but on other projects…)

Fantastic. It’s like a complicated robot kaleidoscope with interchangeable barrels. That’s really neat.

And the music ain’t bad either.

Very cool but remember: Since it is a strange electronic device that has flashing lights please do not bring it Boston. =)
