Not Valid in New Jersey my ass!  I actually knew about the gas tank icon because I live in the other state where you can’t pump your own gas (yes this is a quiz).  If you pull in on the wrong side the gas pumpers MAKE YOU DRIVE AROUND!  I assume that professional gas attendants frown of dragging the gas hose over a car for fear of leaving dirt or scratching the car.  Either that or they enjoy pissing people off.  Some are polite about it “Do you want me to drag this dirty hose over the car or do you want to drive around, ma’am?”  Another favorite “Ma’am would you care to pop the gas lock?” and I push the button for the trunk instead.
