The Betty Crocker website has instructions for making "Building Block Cakes" which have a marked resemblance to our favorite injection-molded plastic blocks. I wouldn't try stacking the cakes together.

Mmmmm, I love me some cake! I would try to build something anyway....and then eat it
As fragile as cakes tend to be, they probably build a lot better than the LEGO Eggo waffles that are on shelves these days. I actually tried building with them, both frozen and toasted. Neither worked =P
When I was about 8 or so, I got a Lego cake for my birthday.
