Costco Electronics Recycling and Trade-In Program

Costco has partnered with GreenSight to offer an easy trade-in program for gadgets and other electronics. Use the web-based calculator to determine the value of your product, send in the item (with free shipping for the moment), and once received you’ll be sent a Costco gift card for the trade-in value. They’ll even take CRT monitors, printers, and fax machines, although only to be recycled. (Presumably you have to take those into Costco or a GreenSight center; I can’t see them paying for you to ship a monitor.)

actually they do pay for the shipping if you want to send them your old CRT monitor. you just have to sign up, fill out an online form, and they will email you a UPS label for sending them your monitor!

Yes, but the caveat is that you either have to pack it yourself or pay for the packaging at the UPS Store you take it to. I found that out after I took my old system to one of the locations for shipping. I can’t imagine what the cost would be for that but I took mine back and will be driving to my county’s recycling center this weekend. I can’t see paying for the packaging for a CRT with no trade-in value and a case worth only $8. The money is paid back in Costco cash too, which is fine if you have a membership or know someone who does. Make sure and read the terms and conditions on the page before you start!
