Dragon Lasers 250mW "Hulk" Reviewed (Verdict: Lasery)
Dragon Lasers sent me the same 250mW "Hulk" green laser that Oh Gizmo has reviewed, but unlike Evan Ackerman I've been somewhat frightened by the thing, having once popped the side of a couple of buildings in Manhattan (taking care to avoid any windows) before panicking about getting taken out at the knees by federal agents. And really, how do you review a strong laser? Evan took the only way I could think of so far, too: taking lots and lots of shiny pictures.
Tomorrow is going to be "Reviews Catch-Up Day" on Boing Boing Gadgets, so I'll try to think of something clever to do to show the Hulk off. If nothing else, I can shoot some video. (Crap! Ackerman already did that, too! I'm at a loss.)

You could always roll your own laser controlled video game and play from a mile away:

DO i distance test, at night, find a big hill, then send someone off into the distance and see how far they get from you before the laser moves around too much or the spot becomes too big (if the former happens first, it's a good laser).
that or you could see how long it takes to light a match.
The only thing that makes the leadin photo better then an evil looking green laser is the fact that said death beam is perched upon a copy of Cryptonomicon. It brings a tear of joy to this poor geeks eyes.
Well you could just go the easy route and make some sort of statement about the laser and your wang, but that'd be cheating.
Sigh, that laser's really cool and all, but what's it good for?
Have you tried using your 'high-power' laser to shoot something cool - like the dead husk of a Roomba?
Man, that thing otter burn real nice ....

High fives for the copy of Cryptonomicon!
3 mirrors set up like a prism+motor+laser=laser line
3 mirrors set up like a prism+slower motor+laser line=scanning laser line
+glow-in-the-dark sheeting=cool radar effect
(also...is that pointed at the SKY?? if its that strong, you could make an adaptive optics system for a large telescope...wow)
These lasers are getting more and more powerful the only problem is they're also too darn expensive. While watching videos of this thing on Youtube I came across another laser that's exactly the same. Further checking revealed it's from the same manufacturer in China called Changchun New Industries. Anyway, this other company called www.techlasers.com is selling this version of the "hulk" which they call "crossfire" for $200 cheaper. It's the exact same model from the same manufacturer. Does someone out there know another company selling these lasers cheaper?
