My very favorite solar bags from Voltaic are now even more green, as the fabric surrounding the panels is now made from recycled PET soda bottles instead of nylon. That’s awesome. (It wouldn’t be very green for me to ditch my current Voltaic for a new one, though!)

I my Voltaic bag as my earthquake kit. It’s where I keep our emergency food, flashlights, water filters, water, etc. I assume the ability to get a charge might come in pretty handy when SF is in ruins. This tempts me to go out and get a new one to use everyday.
Can you get a Voltaic bag on an airplane?
You betcha. I fly with my Voltaic all the time. The general response I get from the screeners is: “Cool!”
I would love to get one of these [packs (and the fact that they’re made from recycled materials makes them even more appealing!). I’ll have to save up; maybe I’ll include the price for one in the money I’m saving up for a backpacking trip through Ireland this coming summer.
I was first turned on to bags with solar panels when I heard about a company in Chicago, Noon Solar, that makes designer bags with panels: http://www.noonsolar.com/ The bags are also made out of entirely biodegradable materials.
