Flickr x Library of Congress Photo Collections

The Library of Congress is putting up images from its collection of millions on Flickr. Each one of the over three thousand online right now have no copyright restrictions. You could decorate a lovely blog with images like these, like this shot of women workers installing "fixtures and assemblies" into the fuselage of the B-17F bomber. If you squint your eyes it looks like giantesses building on a space station.

I'm a little bummed that the scan resolution is so low.

The photos were primarily shot on 4 x 5 film and likely have hundreds of times more resolution that the Flickr version shows.

My bad, there are links on the .gov webpage (linked to from Flickr) that offer HUGE .TIF scans.

Read twice, post once.

I was always amazed at how there was colour footage of the nazi's, so its great to see that they weren't the only ones with colour film in the 40's! These are GREAT! Also handy that they also have no copyright restrictions!
