Snickers Charged Infused with Caffeine and Taurine

The new "Snickers Charged" candy bar includes 60 milligrams of caffeine, taurine, and B vitamins, about the same as a cup of coffee. (Well, minus the taurine, of course.) Candyblog got a sample and said it had a bitter aftertaste, but should be a fairly good deal as far as cheap blasts of caffeine go, depending on what your local snack shack charges for coffee.

I will probably end up grabbing a couple of these. Frozen Snickers bars are one of my favorite indulgences.

If you want a cheap blast of caffeine, I recommend you buy a bottle of caffeine pills. Ten bucks will get you at least a hundred 100mg pills, maybe a hundred 200mg ones. Then you can get the bitter caffeine-eating over with in two seconds and move on to some chocolate that actually tastes good.

I hope nobody's eating these and then, say, swimming or otherwise engaging in activities in which it would be dangerous to cramp up. Caffeine can also dehydrate you, so especially in warmer temps it would be better to just have a swig of coffee or soda and wash it down with lots more water.

60mg would be a small (8oz) cup of weak coffee. A more typical size would be 12oz to 20oz, ranging from 120mg to 300mg of caffeine. A large, strong coffee really wrecks me for the day!! (Shakes! Hunger! Ack!)

Joel - way off on your caffeine estimation.

A cup of green tea at 12oz has about 80-90 mg of caffeine. A cup of coffee at 12oz should have between 180-230 mg of caffeine. 60 mg of caffeine? That's not even a single shot of espresso.

I like buying a high caffeine treat before playing a 4 hour Starcraft match. This will go well with the can of Monster or Rockstar.

I just had one and not only did it taste like a regular Snickers bar, I definitely feel that kick of energy (though that could just be the sugar).
