Roland Iten’s Ornate Belt Buckles

roland-iten-belt-1_48.jpg

Roland Iten makes these appealingly complicated belt buckles, able to be dialed in to what appears to be a tolerance of up to one-tenth of a sandwich. But because they’re made in Switzerland, each of these precision buckles cost $25,000—or a paltry $15,000 for the steel and gold model.

It’s a pity, because I think they’re quite neat. I’ll wait until an enterprising American knife maker starts doing a stamped version for $50.

Yes, I would pay handsomely for the thrill of not being able to undo my pants in the event of explosive diarrhea.

Doubles well as a chastity belt buckle too!

Looking at it carefully, it appears to be a stud style belt buckle. The mechanism appears to be designed to allow the wearer to increase or decrease the length of the buckle itself. In theory this should allow the wearer to “tune” the belt to a perfect fit – not too tight and not too loose.

The idea has merit, but the implementation is lame – a stud style buckle??? are you joking?!?!?!?
