Still at SXSWi

Hey, folks. Posting will be a little back and forth today and tomorrow as I’m still at SXSWi. I haven’t been blogging all the panels I’ve been attending, but I’ve been taking lots of notes. Perhaps I will be able to synthesize some sort of cohesive perspective or nugget of insight out of them later!

How are things going with you? Did you have a good weekend?

Yes, get a vintage around town guide. And if you need gigantic chrome headphones, or a front-loading turntable… Give me a shout. Or you can come over and feast your eyes on a government surplus filing cabinet full of old dental tools, fake teeth, and TSA-confiscata.

Lots to look at here in Austin.

Why thank you, yes, my weekend was lovely. Got the new Smash Bros, and didn’t get enough sleep. Am a little bummed: I’ve had no luck attempting to play with random people on the inter-wii-nets. But it is indeed Super.

We got 20″ of snow over Friday night and Saturday. Played Cribbage on Saturday and shoveled on Sunday.

    Joel,

There’s good vintage shopping here in Austin. Make sure to pick up a free “Vintage Around Town” guide (at pretty much any vintage store). There are a couple of good areas where the stores are all w/in walking distance: South Congress (many stores and close to downtown, but can be pricey), and North Loop (fewer stores and just north of UT, better prices).

And, with apologies for the shameless self-promotion, check out my wife’s store, Austin Modern (austinmodern.com). Not really into the vintage gadgets so much, but nice MCM stuff nonetheless … and she ships too. Hint, hint. ;-)

Not too bad. Started and finished Portal.
