The “NET-2000 Shooting Net Rod” fires a 52-square foot nylon net using compressed air, capable of subduing someon from almost 50 feet away. You can buy one for just $420 from Chinagrabber. The net is reusable, too, provided it isn’t torn apart by your quarry.
web gun catches thieves just like flies [Technabob]

Just like the one on Rob and Big!
Flipdon, that’s exactly what I was coming in to say. One of my few guilty pleasures left on MTV…
so is Spiderman getting royalties from this?
Cops should be using these instead of tasers and guns.
Could they have had worse playactors pretending to be totally freaked out by a thin nylon web? One guy just lies down (not falls, takes care to go down safely) and kicks his feet in the air like he’s having a tantrum.
Might be a nice booby trap in a bank or something but otherwise Id be wary of using this on anyone with a gun with all that range of motion (with consideration to a calm, non-flailing target…)
And that, my friends is just one more reason for me to carry a knife with a pocket clip. Sure, the net would slow me down, but I wouldn’t be as helpless as some of those guys…
I would say that I want to get one just to get shot with a net, but as a law-abiding citizen in the US, I’m sure I’ll be hit with one in a couple years anyway.

And that’s just what they have said for every non-lethal weapon yet. And then the first time it is used the target will fall into traffic or water or something and not be able to get out. Or they will have a heart attack or medial problem and the paramedics won’t be able to treat them because they are wrapped up in a great big net.
And then everyone will run around saying that life was so much better when the cops just had clubs.
Yes, I am a little jaded, why do you ask?
It’s kinda weird that this post about a “gentle” weapon from China is making its rounds through the blogs right now. Why would anybody use toys like this “to subdue a potential outbreak of violence” when you can use tanks to maintain peace and harmony, huh?
Scuba SM beat me to the knife comment.
I wonder how it would do when used against a sword wielder.
