The Runt: Tiny, Rechargeable Stun Gun

rechargeable-runt.jpgThe "Runt" stun gun is just over three inches tall, but is available in versions capable of outputting up to 950,000 volts. There's even a model with a flip-out recharging plug, making it look a little like a black Airport Express. Just don't confuse the two when you're plugging in your Ethernet.

Prices start at $40 for the 350,000-volt version, up to $70 for the rechargeable 950,000 model.

I went to the link to find out if it comes in pink. It does not. The website copy is really funny in a completely unintentional sort of way.

The best part was: "We will never share your email". I don't think a company based in North Carolina using an unsecured page can make that claim...

It also looks like it would be incredibly easy to sneak one onto an airplane: "Ummm, it's an extra battery for my laptop... Wait, it's an MP3 player... A transistor radio?" Seeing that I've accidently brought a Leatherman tool on (forgot it was in my back pocket; no, the alarms didn't sound) it doesn't sound too farfetched.

I think that if you're a frequent stun gun user, you probably have more to worry about than the cost of replacement batteries

I'm a little dubious of the 950,000 volt claim. How do you not shock yourself with a tiny device that produces a voltage that can jump 10 inches or more?

Bunnyman2112/Andrew-
Oh, about 2-3 weeks before *that* day happened I left HI for AZ with my father's old boyscout knife on my person. There was no security save for an unnattended metal detector doing its thing. I'd never try that sort of thing now, but I see how you could get through carrying that with you.
Wonder if being on BoingBoing gets you on the "naughty" list? I'm gona be taking to the skies soon, so we'll see...

Er... How about that "path of least resistance" thing? Why would it want to leap all the way to your hand when the much more conducive electrodes are a mere inch apart?
