Panzer Tank Replica Shoots Paintballs

Keith writes: "This Kettering College student built a drivable compact Panzer tank that fires paint-balls." He sure did! Ladies love the Panzers.

The 1/2-scale model was originally built for a paintball game and uses a three-cylinder diesel engine for motivation.

Can someone please explain the difference between a Panzer tank and a non-Panzer tank?

Nex@5: Answer #1: Only real Panzers wear lederhosen.

Answer #2: the Panzer (Panther) was a famous German tank during World War 2, the tank that made the blitzkrieg possible. There were a lot of differences between the Panzer and other tanks, such as the American Sherman tank. I don't know what they were specifically, but I expect the experts can tell. (In the same way that I'd expect an expert on sports cars to tell that somebody's scale model Mustang isn't actually a Corvette.)

I see, thanks! I'm a native German speaker and didn't know that 'Panzer' is supposed to refer to this specific model. In German it just means 'tank' (actually, the literal meaning is 'armor'), as in "Der amerikanische Sherman-Panzer ist sehr gut." :-)

Panzer means Armored. All tanks were Panzers, all armored vehicles were Panzers. The Panther was a specific Panzer just as the Tigers were. Panzer divisions were armored divisions.
