Beautiful chrome egg boiler cooks seven at once

egg_10.jpgSekai-Kaden's Vitantonia boiler cooks up to seven of 'em on demand, producing soft-boiled eggs in 10 minutes or hard-boiled oned in 15. It even comes with an insert to make three poached eggs, though the ~$50 price tag is a little disconcerting.

Lovely design, though, and a sturdy look. If anyone spots local availability anywhere, drop us a line so that we may give it a whirl.

Well, sure, but I've got eight people coming over for a soft-boiled egg luncheon in nine minutes. THANKS FOR NOTHING, SCIENCE.

Can you explain the use of this? $50 for something which a standard pot can do in about the same time, with more eggs? Yeesh.

So does a pan.

Sorry. Not going on my wanted gadgets list.

But you can pretend to be a Norman Patton with this one.

I've always wondered where one could find such a thing as an egg-cooker like this. Rice cookers are cheap and ubiquitous, but I haven't seen egg cookers anywhere other than my parents' kitchen.

Seriously, the egg cooker is as useful as a rice cooker and an electric kettle, when compared to a traditional stovetop pot.

I have an egg cooker from the local Wal-Mart type store, Fred Meyers. It cost about $20, and will do what the other one describes. What I like it best for is doing batches of 6 hard boiled eggs without having to watch a stove. Or even have a stove, for that matter, and it's kind of tricky to hard boil an egg in the microwave ;)

Actually, Rogue, I really enjoy my rice cooker, as opposed to just doing it on the stove. Normally when I make rice, I'm cooking other things as well, so it's one thing I don't have to worry about; just throw it in, add the water to the line, and push the button. Of course, with an electric range, it can be difficult getting the temperature of the element just right, and the rice cooker does make that easier too.

for me, this is the ultimate egg cooker.
shaped like an egg (but with feet), poaches, boils. it's lid is a measurer. plus it tweets when ready.
