   #1 Actually, in G gundam, there was the Neo-Iraqi SCUD gundam, which got approximately 3 seconds of screen time, getting its crap ruined by the Neo-american gundam.

   The robot pictured is Grendizer from Go Nagai’s(you may know him as the creator of Mazinger Z/Getter Robo/Devilman/Cutey Honey) UFO Robot Grendizer.
   for reasons somewhat unclear to me, the middle east LOVES Grendizer.

   I think middle east loves Grandizer (Goldrake in Italy) since in 1978 italian RAI TV was brodcasting the anime to Italy but the TV signal reached northern Africa and middle east…
   anyway in countries like France and Italy Grandizer and Mazinga are still really famous even among old people (even tought they don’t know who is Nagai Go).
   Actually we had a robot boom several years before USA has been hit by the Transformers mania!
