EcoGIR suits made from recycled PET bottles

bagirecogir.jpg

New "EcoGIR" suits from Bagir, available nowish at Sears, are made in part from recycled PET plastic bottles. They're also machine washable, which is sort of awesome, too.

They're also only $200 for pants and a jacket, which is a little bit daunting; I'm all about cheap suits, but that's very cheap. Still, I'd really like to put my hands on one and get a feel of the fabric. (Too bad there's no Sears anywhere around me.)

Sounds like the old fire-hazard leisure suits from the 70s.

Does it come in a color other than garbage can, and can I get a jacket that fits better than that?
Seriously, although they're not for everyday wear, a wrinkle proof wash and wear suit can be a boon for traveling. Even if you never actually run the whole thing through the laundry, being able to sponge off a lapel or sleeve can save a garment until the next access to proper cleaning.

does 200 dollars include the deposit?

Either that suit doesn't fit that model, or I have been wearing my suits wrong. Still, as ill-fitting and unattractive as that picture makes the suit seem, I have to go check it out. I already own that tie.

1) $200 is cheap, but for the average American it isn't *very* cheap by any means. I think Joel may be giving away his economic status with this post.

2) As others have pointed out, the fit on the model is TERRIBLE. I know suit arms are trending shorter these days, but they aren't supposed to be THAT short, especially when coupled with high-waisted pants.

3) I love the idea, and will probably make my first trip to Sears in several years just to take a look at these. Good job, Sears!

I'm of the economic status that I lust after more expensive suits, but am only considering buying the $200 one. :)

Typical for Sears -- it's not on their website. They have no clue about how to reach the modern market. I would go to Sears TODAY and buy one of these (barring any unsolvable fit issues) but I won't go there just on the off-chance that they might have them. Still stuck in 1958, I see....

I have a grocery bag made from recycled PET bottles (a free gift from American Spirit, no less) and it's great. Feels like a cotton/polyester blend, machine washable and dryable. I'd love to see more stuff made out of the fabric.
