Dualist Cook System for backpackers
The "GSI Outdoor Ultralight Dualist Cook System" won an Editor's Choice award from Backpacker magazine. The slickest bits: the pot lid has a built-in strainer; the dishes have snap on lids with tiny sippy holes for coffee or soup; and the sack it all travels in will stand up on its own full of water, doubling as a miniature dish sink. It's $50, though, so save it for the hardest of the trail rats.

Joel, you seem to post about treking and travel gear, computing on the move, connecting from the woods, etc. Then I see your post about the 'Premier Supermatic II Cigarette Injector,' and I wonder -- how does that work, exactly? Seems like a bit of a contradiction.
(Not being critical about either smoking or camping, just curious how you manage to align the two.)
@pronto Before I go into the woods, I roll up a bunch of cigarettes. :)
While I do agree $50 is a fair bit to spend on something, the gear for outdoor enthusiasts is rarely cheap, and $50 is a good price for something like that. You have to consider that it weighs 19 oz which if you are a hardcore trailrat, thats going to be less weight on your back than if you took along a iron skillet. It takes up a very small amount of volume in your pack as well, which is important because every bit of space can count on some hikes. Will this be something important to get if your driving right to your campsite pitch in 14A beside the family from Dulles and the other side a family from DeMoins in an area having another 300 'campers'. Probably not. But if your thinking doing parts of the AT or even a through hike on the whole thing, both of which probably give you trailrat status, then yes, this is the gear for you.
I am not employed by GSI, due to some less than savory characters and naivete on my part, I found myself homeless for May 08, and ended up camping (illegally) during it, and I look at hiking/camping gear in a whole different light now. Especially when you have to carry everything a good portion of the time.
19 oz is nowhere near light. And yes, $50 seems like too much for this.
