Queen buys 7.5 megawatt wind turbine

The Crown Estate will own the world’s largest wind turbine, a 7.5 MW monster manufactured by Clipper. From Treehugger:

The Britannia will be located in deep waters near the UK. This makes sense because the marine interests of The Crown Estate include almost the entire UK territorial seabed out to 12 nautical miles , about 55% of the UK’s coastal foreshore, and rights to lease seabed for the generation of renewable energy on the continental shelf within the Renewable Energy Zone which extends out to approximately 200 nautical miles..

For a whisper of what the scale of this thing will be, see the following picture–of Clipper’s 2.5 MW model.

Really neat picture there. Is there a place online that I could order a print?

Sorting out something reasonable now; if I can’t find a place that’ll do it cheap, I’ll just send you the fill size file and you can take it to Kinkos! :)

Fuck it, all the online artist print gallery things look scammy. How big do you want it? I have a good 13×19 at home.
