EFiX dongle promises easy OS X installation on any PC

The EFiX OS X dongle is promising an easy way to install Leopard on your PC: cram it into a free USB port, pop the Leopard install disc into your drive, reboot your PC, and it'll take care of all the messy patching and hacking. They claim it has taken them over six months of testing to get right, despite "sabotage," which immediately garners up the mental image of a wrecking crew of hipster thugs pouring gasoline into a computer lab at midnight and spray painting key phrases from the WWDC keynote on the walls.

My immediate thought was scam, but one of the OSX86 devs seems impressed. The release date is supposed to be June 23rd, with no price announced.

Countdown to weenies using a hacked copy of OS X and going around claiming Apple hasn't built a "stable" OS: 3... 2..

BUT (and that's a big but) if they ever do get this going and have it be completely stable... THAT would be a feat! (and I would welcome our new OS hacker overlords)

Many false profits have come before proclaiming "I can get OSX to work on a PC, but *insert list of bugs here*"

I hope this is the real deal. I would love to be able to run Final Cut Studio on a cheaper system that I can build myself.

Then again, since OSX is developed for specific hardware, attempts at customization might prove futile.

Or maybe the open source community will rise up in force to keep it functional and stable.

It'll be very interesting to see what happens
