I'd buy that for a dollar! New Robocop posters up

robocop_teaser_poster_01.jpgPosters featuring the new Robocop are out and about, if this grainy phonecam shot is to be trusted. There should be an award for not trying to "update" the classic look, though the glowing cylonesque visor is somewhat fruity.

Gizmodo hopes for a Bad Robocop; I merely hope for Paul Verhoeven and Peter Weller. Alas, score-writer Basil Poledouris is dead.

I just hope it's not horrible Like most of the Robocop franchise. Apparently Peter Weller really dislikes being known as Robocop, so you'll probably have to live without him in the new one.

I'd say there's little chance of Weller appearing. I studied under him in Italy and you did not bring up Robocop around him. Great guy though and incredibly brilliant.

I'm hoping for Verhoeven + anime, but I know that's not gonna happen.

i want a super-satirical and super-violent script, that like the original, presents our possible future by showing us a hilariously ramped up version of the worst parts of now. The first one was such a perfect commentary on consumerism of the 80's and everything becoming a commodity, and at the same time, a hilarious cartoon of the hero-action cinema of the preceding decade. It's one of my all-time favorite movies. Please, for the love of God, let this one be worth doing. Lord knows we've got enough crap going on these days for it to work with.

Well, I studied under Weller in Poughkeepsie, and one could mention Robocop to him, but only if each mention was accompanied by a two-minute pony ride, during which he sang "My Cherie Amour" in a piercing falsetto. Annoying, to be sure, and hard on the back, but one does not question genius.
