‘Robber Baron’ table makes pollution beautiful

The “Robber Baron” series of furniture includes this fantastic table, inspired by the early 20th century factories like the Battersea Power Station. Each of the four chimneys toot a cloud of bronze smoke which forms the table.

It’s gorgeous. It’s more art than furniture. It’s $700,000.

    Fun Fact: The actual Battersea Power Station only has 2 functioning chimneys. The other 2 are there for aesthetic reasons.

    Wonderama – Not so as far as I can tell. Was originally half it’s current size with a chimney at each end, then they built an identical power station right next to it giving it four.

    It’s not just art, it’s an altar to industrialism… This one isn’t “want”, but I do like it.

    Take a look at a picture them – the top of two of the chimneys (on the long side)have smoke stains and the other two don’t. Also, this is information I got from a London tour guide 25 years ago, so things may have changed…
