The Kuchofuku air-conditioned bed

An air conditioned bed seems like the greatest invention of all time during a season when I wake up every morning and need to moistly peel myself off a stenching sweat silhouette of my own foul, nocturnal drippings. This Kuchofuku model pulls air from near your head and cooled as it travels through the inflatable matt, ultimately being expelled near the feet. Looking at the remarkably uninformative site, I'm a tad concerned that there's no actual air-conditioning going on — it seems like, in a worst case scenario, this could just be a gimmicky fan that doesn't even blow on you, but under you — but the price of $399 seems to imply that it actually does what it's supposed to do, which may be worth the chance in these sweltering summer months.

Here's my solution: http://www.shepherdsdream.com/

It's fairly expensive, and not for everyone, but I love it. It's cool in the summer and warm in the winter, but has been described by some as "hard as a rock." I think it just feels "hard" as it has no internal springs, box springs, or foam. The effect to me is soft, but not at all bouncy.

I'm not sure how well the mattress topper alone would work on a standard mattress as I went whole-hog, but it's a "green" alternative to the air-conditioner here.

This product is clearly not an air conditioner in the traditional sense of the word. First of all, the only mechanism is at your feet so it must be pulling in normal air from the room at your head. Second, it only costs "$0.24 A MONTH" to operate, meaning it only takes 1/10 a penny an hour to operate two 4.5W fans. This is not an air conditioner, it's a glorified, $400 fan.

Why not simply sleep on a Air Hockey table?

After punching a hole through several futons with my crack sweat, I sleep on a thick wool mattress pad. It makes a huge difference.

A $20 stand fan aimed at the bed and set on low will do the job just as well, and is a multitasker.

I was going to add "as long as your bed partner doesn't mind," but then I realized that a fan is a far, far less intrusive solution than this pad-fan thingy.
