Toshiba’s entry in the superthin stakes is the Portege R500-S5007v, a 2.4lb notebook with a 128GB flash drive and integrated optical. Topped by a 12.1″ 1280×800 widescreen display, it comes with 2GB of RAM, a U7700 Core 2 Duo CPU and Intel GMA video. There’s no WWAN, and it comes with Vista Business.

Yours for three grand.

Erm… I read BBG because as a rule you don’t quote ENTIRE PRESS RELEASES and call it a post. Please don’t start now.

It reads kinda like Kerouac; perhaps this notebook should be called On the Road…

good deal for that much solid state, no?

It’s quite hard to tell, because Toshiba’s the only company that’s got a single-drive 128GB flash solution out. The machine is a few hundred more expensive than the MacBook air and the Lenovo X300 — and you also get an optical drive for your trouble.
