How do you cope without your £50,000 plastic egg chamber?
Ovei pods cost £50,000 and contain a "personal multimedia experience," supposedly enhanced by their egg-shaped chassis. Complete isolation, brown-note bass, the self-righting luxury of rolling around while you do whatever you need complete isolation to do ... what? I'm a paragraph in and am already completely confused.
Anyway, designer Lee McCormack and McLaren Applied Technologies launched it yesterday at Britain's CEDIA show, promising to cut each capsule to the customer's needs. PS3- and Xbox 360-compatible, it will also be offered in your color and upholstery of choice.

Isn't this what Mork came to Earth on? Nanu nanu.
Maybe I shouldn't be asking this... but what the heck is "brown-note bass"?
And also... it looks like the video screen is on the right-hand wall. So you have to constantly be looking to the right while you're gaming or whatever? It doesn't seem like it'd be very comfortable.
I'm with you, JAKE0748, what IS "brown-note bass"? Have the silly audiophiles reached oenophile levels? Are we soon going to hear about "a slight acorn tint in the bass and a resonant cherry in the upper ranges"?
Th main screens moves when the slide door opens. What the video looks pretty cool.
i like the idea, but for a DIY kit of sorts.

Kind of looks like You'd have to be a short skinny person to fit inside. comfortably at least. I still like the idea though.
Thanks for the link Rob, I figured it was going to be something like that. :)
didn't Roger Dean invent these in the 70s (as seen in A Clockwork Orange)? Sure, they didn't have TV and stuff but still, it looked like a nice place to read while your giant, pre-Darth Vader man-servant did all of your housework.
Shazbot!
Ya' wouldn't want to fart in there!
I have so longed to be an ovum again. Now I can. Where's my checkbook?
Is it possible to flood it with some sort of life-sustaining fluid a la The Abyss so that you never leave your media enriched life pod. Perhaps then it could be hooked into the power grid to make full use of your now unnecessary bodily functions. mmmmmmmm Matrixy
speaking of brown notes, I worry about the ventilation inside that thing...
Hasn't anyone ever heard of Roger Dean who had built these about 40 years ago
