Mossberg's guide to switching from Windows to Mac

Walt Mossberg of All Things Digital writes up a primer on getting used to the Mac you've finally bought after giving up on Windows.

This column isn’t an argument for making the switch to a Mac, merely an attempt to help those who have done so, or who are considering doing so. Of course, all Macs currently sold can run Windows and Windows programs concurrently with the Mac operating system.

Let us now rub our chins knowingly at such sly propaganda. Bravo!

Well I was one of those who decided to try a Mac as a result of my frustrations with Windows. Then I discovered that you really can't do very much with a Mac. So I installed Bootcamp and now spend all my time back in Windows. But, you know, the Mac Mini is actually a decent Windows PC.

Shrug. Similar docs existed for folks switching from Windows to OS/2, and still exist for folks switching from Windows to Linux. It's sorta an obvious publication/community service/marketing opportunity ...

Actually, I need a Mac-to-Windows guide. Not that I've switched, but I do find myself having to use Windows from time to time, and suffering a bit of confusion when I do.

I find Mossberg's columns to be useless for someone with a modicum of computer savvy. It's even worse, though, when he is a total shill for Apple.

I think he should have mentioned that MAC os is incapable of merging folders, how many switchers have been caught out with that.

I switched to Mac as soon as I got out from under a horrible Windows-only job. That iBook was the least reliable hardware item I have ever purchased. Thank you, Apple, for showing me the way to Linux.
