Austrian postage stamp shows tiny movie

Austria_Lenticular.jpgA new stamp from the Austrian Post features a three-second motion image clip of Andreas Herzog's winning 1997 World Cup goal. It's printed using the familiar lenticular screen technique you might remember from baseball cards and doll eyes of old, but with a full 48 frames of imagery instead of just two or three. Pretty nifty...although it looks like it's just over a second, not a full three, in the animated GIF at Stamps of Distinction.

Wait, there was not a world cup in 1997! And, by the way, Austria have never won a World Cup

At the 25 frames-per-second speed of a PAL broadcast, this would be just under 2 seconds of footage.

The 3 Pov's could also be back to back, creating a 3 second movie.
