iPhone 3G reviews in. Verdicts: praise, but nothing we weren't expecting

iphone2x.jpgJoel's already spotted the New York Times', but Mossberg at the Wall Street Journal and USA Today's Ed Baig also have their thoughts on the upgraded iPhone.

Mossberg hated the battery life and said it drained much faster than the old iPhone. Baig didn't see a difference, however. Pogue is under the impression that the iPhone's inability to do turn-by-turn GPS is because it doesn't have a big enough antenna. Everyone thinks it had better audio quality — and, of course, that the improved data speeds make surfing the web much better.

"A nice upgrade," said Pogue.

"An enthusiastic thumbs up," said Baig.

"If you've been waiting to buy an iPhone until it dropped in price or ran on faster cellular networks, you might want to take the plunge," said Mossberg.

Not a big enough antenna? This makes zero sense. Handheld GPS receivers are not much bigger than the iPhone and get turn by turn directions.

I know it makes zero sense. That's why it's funny!
