Cellular operator T-Mobile is rumored to be planning an Android handset for Oct. 1, itself reported to be the day its new 3G network goes live nationwide.

An anonymous tipster told TmoNews as much, and it says that it’s “found only good things” in its attempts to confirm the leak. Google’s open-source operating system was not otherwise expected to hit town in the next few months.

T-Mobile’s already delayed its 3G expansion once this year, however, though when it goes come, it’s to be expected that this primary Android partner would want plenty of flash new handsets to go with it.

Will Android (presumably on HTC phone hardware) support T-Mobile’s UMA / GAN? $10/month for unlimited calls anytime your mobile is in range of 802.11b/g internet access is just too good to pass up.
