Macally PowerLink flash drive also syncs and charges iPhones, iPods

This little doodad from Macally looks quite useful for iPhone and iPod folks trying to minimize clutter while out and about. It’s called the “PowerLInk” and it works in three ways, each fairly pedestrian on their own, but together quite nice: there’s an iPod USB sync cable (fine); 2GB of flash memory as a USB drive (I’m listening); and a built-in battery that will let you charge up your iPhone or iPod if you need a little bump. (I think I will buy you.)

It’s going to be $50 when it actually makes it out. I share Oh Gizmo‘s worry that the inflexible design may make syncing a bit bendy, but I figure it’s a fair trade off for keeping it all compact. I can’t think of many times when I’ve needed to charge my phone when I didn’t have my laptop on a table.

I’m glad it comes with a USB cable, the thought of that hanging precariously off a laptop with an iPhone dangling off it makes my dongles hurt.
