Tap Tap Revenge bests Apple’s own Remote for App Store top spot

Tapulous’s Bart Decrem just excitedly AIMed me to point out that the company’s first iPhone game, Tap Tap Revenge, is now the number one free application downloaded from the iTunes App Store, beating even Apple’s own (excellent) Remote app. And that’s after a late start, with downloads of TTR starting Friday night. Congrats, developers Nate True and Guy English!

The first Guitar Hero was cool. The second one’s refinement of the input system was welcome and it was a good game too. Rock Band was OK but everyone wants to play drums & not many want to sing or play bass. I guess if you’ve never played ANY other rhythm game, TTR is pretty cool. But honestly, you’ve never played any other rhythm game? What are you doing with an iPhone? Get back in the cave.

Looks a bit like Phase for the iPod. Phase is wonderful because you can use whatever songs you want with it.
