Duracell caught fibbing about its batteries

A common tactic among PR people is to pretend that their products are innovative, when they ain't. A common mistake is to send press releases containing such claims to Dan Rutter.

Hmm. I'm never quite sure whether to pity the PR drones, as servitors forced to spew nonsense for their daily bread to a world that scorns them for their lies or to treat them as the lying parasitic vermin that they truly are, and extirpate them utterly, for the good of all mankind.

Oddly enough, I lean further to the latter as time goes by...

its not really lying, as the sanyo batteries are only available in europe and the UK. it woudl be nice to see them sell directly in the US and canada but i doubt us consumers would latch on to the eneloop brand. duracell is one that they've heard of and the mass market in the US isn't as easily swayed by actual product performance as they are more brand stupid.
