WipEout game too seizure-inducing; sadly redesigned

wipeouthdsiez.jpg

Surely I am not the only one to think, upon hearing news that the Playstation Network game WipEout HD is being retooled after failing tests that measure its ability to trigger epileptic seizure — "I really, really want to play that version of the game."

Reports CVG

CVG has been told that WipEout "fails the epilepsy tests so much that it has to be re-engineered." All that speed and flashing lights zipping past your eyes must be too much to handle.

Well, strictly speaking, I'd say it PASSED those tests.

Seizures aren't much fun, of course, but this sort of thing always makes me wish there were more open ports like that into the brain.

I suffer seizures too, but hey it's a wipeout game - throw a pair of 'sunnies on I'd be fine. (yes that actually does work)

They can pack the game with some Ray-Bans, mark it up a few bucks and solve the problem without a redesign.

There's no reason for me to imagine this story to be false but....
Could this be like B-Horror movies in the sixties with their "medical warnings" used as ads to pump up the scare-factor?
I could imagine the whizboys at Playstation marketing to their adrenaline-hungry audience with rumors of epilepsy...

So if this game failed the tests, but F-Zero GX somehow passed them....

*foams at the mouth, but not due to seizure*

That really, really sucks.

WipeOut is one of the best gaming franchises EV4R!! Mainly because of that accomplished feeling you get for not having a seizure whilst beating all the tracks and contestants.
