Defcon 16′s hackable convention badge

Over the last two years, Defcon — the world’s largest hacker conference — has handed out hackable convention badges, which attendees are encouraged to hack as quickly and uniquely as possible. The badges are designed by Joe Grand, and Wired’s Threat Level blog has a great interview up with him, detailing the challenges — both aesthetic and technological — that come with trying to design a gorgeous convention badge around a circuit board. I look forward to the year someone figures out how to make every convention badge self-destruct when leaving the convention grounds.
