David Burel’s plywood headphones

burelplywoodheadphones.jpg

While some of the selections in Cool Hunting‘s “Five Wooden Gadgets” have been featured on BBG before, I’d not seen these birch plywood headphones from David Burel. While they look like the sort of thing you’d be able to buy by the dozen at Ikea, each unit is actually made to order, since the wooden band at the top necessitates a custom fit. As you might expect I think they’re quite nifty, although I’m not sure I’d actually use a pair if I bought them since they couldn’t be easily stashed in my pocket when I’m out and about.

Price is unknown, but you can contact Burel for a quote. (I have done just that.) Update: Burel told me the headphones are €250 apiece.

Nice minimalist look, and everyone knows that more wood = more danceable.

I think I’m gonna go down to Lee Valley and get me some project supplies for the weekend…
