If you think its Android-powered Dream model is too … bananaey … HTC’s S740 is the stark antidote, a symphony in right angles and grids. A sideways-slider with a full QWERTY keyboard and Windows Mobile 6.1, it has HSDPA; a 2.4″ display; a 3.2 megapixel camera; 256 MB of flash and 256 MB of RAM; Wifi, Bluetooth and GPS; and one of those irritating USB-audio combo ports.
WM 6.1 standard edition? Yuck. And such good design wasted on it, too.
HTC’s S740 Is the Touch Diamond With a Keyboard, Runs Windows Mobile 6.1 Standard [Gizmodo]

I think the only fitting ringtone for this would be “Also sprach Zarathustra”. While a distant second, also acceptable is the 5-note phrase from “Close Encounters of the Third Kind”.
I agree with the Giz kids–kinda dumb to have a screen half the width of the keyboard. And if that keyboard isn’t backlit, you’d need to have pretty decent ambient lighting to overcome that grey-on-black lettering.
I’m no sure I understand the hate for Windows Mobile. It does everything I want it to, and efficiently at that.
This phone looks gorgeous, but I wish they had done away with the QWERTY and just kept it as a simple ultra-thin candybar. That would be even sexier!
