BlueTrack: How Microsoft’s new mice see more surfaces

Two of Microsoft’s new mice use a new “BlueTrack” technology instead of the traditional laser. Maximum PC interviews an engineer about what makes it better than older tech. It sounds like it works like all optical mice of yore, just on a much wider range of surfaces, including granite and carpet.

    Microsoft developed the imaging ASIC, eh?

    Do three-quarters of the mice flash three red lights two weeks into use, causing the kernel-mode drivers to tank the operating system?

    Badfinn – no worries, if you wrap the mouse in a washcloth for a while it’ll fix itself.
