The Rim Clock pulls time telling inside out

rimz2.jpg

The Rim Clock pulls the hands through a clock's omphalos, turing the traditional kitchen clock inside-out with hands slowly spinning on the outside of the clock. I think it looks great for a modern kitchen, but unfortunately, it's still in concept phase.

Those clocks remind me of the Modernist Starburst Clocks, like those designed by George Nelson, that used to come built in to houses with Glass Walls & Butterfly Roofs.

I think I like the look of the numbers below the clocks better; how about a digital clock that displays the time by pressing the numbers up through a thin, rubbery membrane, making it look like the time is being pressed out by a giant, wall mounted DYMO Label Maker?

They have it backwards. The "pointy" hand looks more prominent than the "bumpy" hand, so "pointy" should indicate the hours and "bumpy" the minutes - not the other way around like the picture shows.

Thanks for not being mean Kaiza :)

I see what you're thinking: the hour hand is shorter, so it should stick out less... that makes some sense. For some reason though, the clock still feels wrong to me; I'll grant you that maybe it's just an irrational thing.

(not using preview because that makes me type in two captchas instead of one; so I'll blame any typo on our reCaptcha friends)
