500XL: iPod earbuds go elephantine

Love the Photoshop guys, but the product still tickles me: Apple’s old iPod stock earbuds actually make fairly attractive desktop speakers. Even better, these are scarcely less conforming to the prawn-like shape of the ear canal than Apple’s more diminutive offerings. I’ll be damned if I could manage to cram either set in my aural cauliflowers.

   I actually want a set… this is actually quite a beautiful concept for a set of speakers, especially if you could get holders much like ones that hold the handle like shower nozzles you can take down and spray yourself with. Almost like the hand of a Lego Minifig, but large to handle these and able to point it in any direction… that would be neat and kind of funky to have…

   Were earbuds ever actually intended to fit INSIDE the ear canal? It never occurred to me to try since it’s clearly impossible. And more- it’s what in- ears are for.

   And these are neat, but impractical.

   Typical Apple fans. They love their iPods, so they’ll buy speakers and headphones and subpar laptops to match. Purely aesthetic.
