Video: DIY Full Metal Rubber Band gun

An intrepid young man in Japan — whose website I believe is named "Psychodrive Over Boost!?"; We'll be renaming BBG to something similar now — has fashioned a beautiful one-off rubber band gun. It's the same basic design as wooden rubber band guns, but this one has a working safety and is far prettier. (And heavier!)

(Thanks, Matt!)

Damn fine work and makes me want to go dig out my now admittedly inadequate wooden model for some rubber band shooting fun.

That looks real enough to get you accidentally shot.

TheMindFantastic,

Yes, it does look real enough to get you shot. It also looks substantial enough to stop a bullet, so it's a toss up.

THAT is going to get you arrested on an imitation gun charge in pretty much any metro jurisdiction I can think of, including mine. And #2 is absolutely correct about the whole getting shot thing. Ridiculous looking toy guns painted bright colors have gotten kids killed in low-light conditions. As great a job as this metal toy is, things like it should remain indoors and never be carried outside.

Color me green with envy. Very nicely made and shot demonstration, too.

He needs to licence this immediately and get some factory churning them out because I'd like to buy two as soon as possible....

I want one! I want one now, this would shift the entire balance of power in our office rubber band war.

#2, #3, #4 - perhaps not in Japan? I know where I am, nobody's going to get shot. The first time anyone sees it, they will automatically think "toy gun". It gets like that when guns are rare.

I still want one, I'd be great for anime conventions, although I agree I wouldn't want it sitting in the backseat of my car if I got pulled over
