Fujitsu perfects the 12-inch tablet, at least on paper

Fujitsu Siemens’ ST6012 Tablet PC has the acrylicy resolve characteristic of all its products; FS is all about quality products drained of cool by its cubicle-ready design instincts.

The ST6012 has a 12-inch 1280×800 pixel display, 2GB of RAM, a 320GB hard drive (or 64GB SSD), a fingerprint scanner, and an integrated 3G modem. It is, in other words, just the sort of stunning little computer that would make the blogs explode if it was made by you know who. This model, however, comes in gray, and has lots of little filth-collecting ribs along the edges so they could still use the cheap
plastic.

It manages to ape the Thinkpad design while completely leaving out the timeless aspect of it.

In other words, it looks like modern hardware stuffed in a design left over from 1992.

It looks strikingly similar to the Newton Messagepad, which the blogs didn’t exactly explode over. Well, there weren’t any blogs back then, but still.

I think it lives up to the name Stylistic quite well. At least I’m certain it’s supposed to be a frankenword cobbled together from stylus and plastic.

I’d like to see a full spec tablet from a company like Asus, who’ve lately managed to produce a stylish gem or two among their selection of more standard slabs.
