The other night I was reading something on the IMDB (a kid looking for a movie title) and I saw this:
"...All i can remember is 2 friends accidently tried to playback a CD (the old large black ones) and you can hear the devils voice..."
I feel old.
dammit people, stop mutilating records, or there won't be any left for future generations!
Oh yeah? Well don't get so distressed. Did I tell you that I'm impressed?
Secret LOP: Oh man, that does make me feel old.
When I was in grad school I DJed at the college radio station, and one of my duties was training new student DJs, usually freshmen.
While these people generally had some concept of what vinyl records were (e.g. a DJ moves them back and forth with his hands; they go wikki-wikki-wikki), some of them just couldn't get their heads around the fact that you put the needle *directly on the record*.
"And if you want to hear a different track, you just pick up the needle and move it? Really?"
Hopefully I put some of them on the righteous path, but some were terrified of the concept and wouldn't even venture into the station's vinyl room (a miraculous cave of many wonders).
Are those water nozzles? That would be the coolest fountain in the world if it spit water out of random nozzles in sync with the music, like a real-life visualization.
And for those concerned about destroying the old vinyl, remember that there's crappy music on the format, as well as gems.
I love record art! It seems to be such a versatile material.
Here's a pic of The Beatles done in record bits by Mister Brainwash....

I am disappointed in myself for not being able to think up a Shoggoth joke to go with this.
@Rob Beschizza:
Do you mean the Shoggoth as created by LP Lovecraft?
...Otay, really impress me: do something like this with 8-Track tapes :-P
@9 W000T -- This would be disco H.P. Lovecraft, of course, but yes.
