Inspired perhaps by BBtv's look at Brazilian coffee picking machines, Oobject gathers a selection of the world's largest and weirdest harvesting machines.

Submit to the Biomass Harvester. Resistance is messy.

I used to work for Deere writing manuals for some of these behemoths. A modern harvesting machine is more like a moving factory, not only picking a product but extracting the part that's wanted from the dross and packaging the result for delivery.

With GPS and computer controls, they are the closest thing to autonomous robots we have built to date. Modern harvesters follow the rows all by themselves; all the operator has to do is turn at the row ends.

They also track yields via GPS, so farmers can analyze how to adjust their planting and spraying for the highest yields.

They're amazing.
