I must be too old or out of touch.. I don't get this infocrap..
OK, this is weird. :p
What the F*CK is happening to BBGadgets? I guess I'm too old, too, because the last ten posts went right over my head.
Keep this up and you will lose a lot of readers who are here to read about GADGETS.
The BB home page has now started filling its pages with video content, and material from BBTV, which the vast majority of people cannot watch at work. Like many folks, I read BB during breaks at work. That's why I started reading the BBGadgets page, because it actually had articles instead of video links. And now this weirdness has befallen the BBGadgets page.
What's going on guys? This is seriously whacked content.
Attention freaking world, click on the Infomerica Icon and it will explain everything. Regardless, this is annoying.
#3 I would assume they're going somewhere with all this.
angry rants aren't really going to get you anywhere. Don't like it its very easy to not read it.
Also, I will say that BB doesn't cater exclusively to the "people at work" crowd. There aren't THAT many BBTV episodes.
I am at work and have no problem finding stuff to read on BBTV. I really have no idea what you are complaining about in that regards.
Yes, very annoying. Guess I'll try coming back in 3 days, because this is neither entertaining nor clever.
er, on BB, not BBTV.
Oh, and thanks cmu :P took me a bit to find what you meant.
No, this is fucking awesome.
Smash the state, Marvin!
At #5. I'm not saying I can't find anything to read on BB. I am saying that, like many, I am at work, and like many, I cannot freely play a video at work but could read an article. At this very moment, 10 of the posts on the BB home page are video links.
I'm detecting a much higher number of people here with sense of humour malfunctions than usual. Carry on, boingboingers!
There are bubbles, and there are bubbles inside of bubbles. That's where you guys are now. So I'm glad you guys are having fun being edgy and all, but it's being missed by a lot of folks out there.
To quote Slashdot: "It's funny, laugh."
I'm looking at this as a sort of vacation for the BBG editors, and reading it for the inherent entertainment value.
If you really need your gadget fix, drop over to engadget or gizmodo for the day. They're quicker on the uptake most of the time anyway (no offense). I come to BBG for the perspective it gives on gadget news.
So please, either let yourself read, laugh, and enjoy, or hang out elsewhere Mon Wed and Fri this week.
You are a true believer. Blessings of the State, Blessings of the people. Buy more, Buy more.
What did you do to Brownlee? I hope he swoops down from the heavens and strikes this poor prose from BoingBoing Gadgets forever! We are in dire need of his magical pen! O master wordsmith, where are you?! We need you! Defeat the evil and talentless hack that has taken over this site!
Beautiful dissonanc3!
There are enough freakin' gadget pages out there. I like this conrades. I do. As per usual, some posts interest, others don't. Some posts reek of insider humour but whatever... The visual and ideological refresh is clever and grand.
Reject corporatized gadgety kitsch-lingo and in the pocket of capital ninnery! Kvetching is fine but this glitch says miles more about boingboing-ethic than anything I've seen in some time.
Here's the thing: It's not entertaining, funny, or even well written. So there. Nanner nanner goo goo. *sticks out tongue*
TJ S, you make it sound like a back handed compliment, but you are right. This sort of thing IS why I come here.
If people havent noticed them doing stuff like this all the time, they' probably are the types who just scane feed headlines looking for news.
I admit from time to time I wonder why Boing Boing of all places runs dry gadget press release news like all the other blogs. This is the kind of thing they should be doing ALL THE TIME
Infomercia?
like infomercial truncated?
Infomerica?
like america of information?
no matter - one is the same as the other.
Consume! Enjoy! Replace!
C'mon folks, this is brilliant! They've turned their entire blog into an avante garde consumable, and you are as much a part of the project as anything they post!
Kudos to them for having the cajones to risk their entire blog to make a social statement. They're challenging consumerism on a consumer blog! Don't you get it?!
Oh, you don't like it? That's kind of the point! Who here isn't at least a little conflicted over lusting after nifty new gadgets and worrying over the moral price of constant acquisition? Seems to me they really touched a nerve.
@17:
Reading back over my comment, it does sound backhanded, but I didn't intend it that way (chalking that up to a lack of coffee this morning). I really do enjoy BBG's regular style, and I love that they're willing to change it up like this.
Now, about that coffee....
Well, it's not the first day in april yet, so yea I don't get it either. Is this site no longer going to be about gadgets. or are we just going to see more double talk orwellian-speak type crap?
I, for one, DO NOT welcome our new Orwellian editors. This was funny/interesting for all of one posts. If you're going to do this all week, I think I'll spend the week in Engasia. Or at least elsewhere.
I love what they're doing so much I think I'll stick around for these three days and then never make my way back to any dystopian consumer blog again(and hey they're all dystopian).
I've been a slave too long and now my plugs are free! I am free!
Long live the resistance!
LONG LIVE MARVIN!!! LONG LIVE MARVIN!!!
I am appreciative that you're taking Tuesday off to handle the MacBook launch...though it might have been interesting to see how a Greek Chorus/Infomercia mashup would work.
Keep up the bizarre.
Infomerica rules!
This takes too much effort to read and appreciate. I hope Informercia goes away soon. Or I will.
What the fuck is happening?
How DARE you deviate from regular programming!
My teeth flew out of my mouth at the shock of not receiving my morning GADGET enema.
Now, I will have to go back to prunes.
Damn you!
Damn you!
Prunes!!!
I expected better from Brownlee.
Und er wiess GENAU warum.
#1, #2 and #3 are part of the plot line.
Doubleplus brilliant! Banish nayspeakers to the fourth circle of the geegawtubes!
what's ironic is that people will vent with great fury and disgust at such things as this, yet not lift a finger (or voice) in matters of true social, economical, or political importance.
pretty pathetic actually. it's a fucking blog; either you're personally edified by this or you aren't. from what i know of joel (isn't all that much really), this is par for the course ..and i love it.
Informercia is winning hearts and minds!
Mine included!
MARVIIIIIIIIIN!
