WiMax Nokia Tablet finally available
Following Sprint's rollout of its XoHM network is Nokia's WiMax edition of its Internet Tablet. At $443, it's not light on the wallet, but it is of course light on the pocket, offering better computing capabilities that most smartphones and a relatively expansive keyboard.
Which is great news if you're in Baltimore or the few other places XoHM is up and running! DC and Chicago will be live soon, too, if you're just waiting on the 4G before you get it. If you're not, though, you may as well just buy the standard edition, as the only other difference is that it comes in black instead of silver.

I absolutely love my n800, and I live in a town that has a functional wimax network due to be public in just a bit, but I won't be getting one of these. The hardware's just gone too long without a bump. Besides the wimax and gps, this is a nearly 3 year old hardware platform: the cpu is a 400Mhz ARM with no graphics acceleration. 128mb ram (though you can swap to sd). It has a gorgeous 800x480 screen, but can't play videos anywhere near that resolution. Nokia's been talking about the next generation coming out soon with a much needed upgrade to the OMAP3 series. What good is wimax if the tablet takes many seconds to render complex pages? It's great that sticking with essentially the same underlying hardware for 3 generations has led to significant backport upgrades for n800 owners, but it's time for a nokia tablet with graphics acceleration that can play video at native resolution, run complex flash and javascript without becoming unresponsive AND has 4g internet. And it looks like the next release will be that device.
