New MacBooks disable iPhone jailbreaking, Dev Team scratches their heads

macbookpwnage.jpg

Apple’s war on Pwnage opens on another front. According to new MacBook owners on HowardForums and iPodTouchFans, the latest MacBooks don’t allow for the jailbreaking of iPhones and iPod Touches.

The culprit seems to be a new build of iTunes unique to the new MacBooks (but likely to be pushed down the pipe to the rest of us eventually), but no one’s quite certain. Whatever’s going down, the new MacBooks do not allow an iPhone or iPod Touch to be recognized when booted into DFU mode.

So you may have won this round, Apple, but the battle to run modified firmware on our iPhones has just begun! We’ll just see what Dev Team has to say about this!

And for as long as they keep that b.s. up, I will limp by with my mac mini. My 6 year old mac mini.

And no iPod touch, despite my deep want for one, until they open it up or someone else builds a better one.
