Hiranao Tsuoboi’s LED Watch concept

It’s just a concept, but Hiranao Tsuoboi’s watch — which displays the time thanks to LEDs baked in between the links of the band — is utterly gorgeous.

I mostly hate design for design’s sake japanese watches, but that is fucking HAWT.

This is amazingly awesome. I’m more of a self winding kind of watch guy myself, but this would definitely make me make an exception and buy a digital. Particularly if there was some way to only light the time when you wanted to see it…

    That is very, very cool.

Although…I might be getting my pursestrings tugged by it being the same strap as I had on my first digital watch, which I lost when it broke (along with my front teeth) at school in 1980.

If that came out for less than $200, I would seriously consider getting it.

    Not for hairy arms. Ouch!

In the comments of the page linked to, the president of the company says the watch is working and will be put into production. I’ll certainly be keeping an eye out for it!

    brilliant.

Having repeatedly bought the same $25 Timex with faux-mother-of-pearl background, indiglo, and straight-forward Arabic numerals (and the all-important second hand) that is worn 24hrs per day including shower (hence the need to buy more than one of this watch), I’ve mainly just passed on these “cool watch” entries. But this one stopped me in my tracks! Very nifty. Nifty indeed.

Oh…and how was that for a run-on sentence?

WoW very cool design, is it water proof? must be expansive too!

    Thanks
