Retro flip clock exposes chronological vinyl fluttering
I've always been fascinated with the analog flipping mechanism: as a boy, I loved watching the minute flutter by on my mother's alarm clock, the thousand vinyl wings folded upon themselves as the carapace of some time-telling scarab.
The carapace is exposed on this chic, gear operated metallic clock, and it scratches all the right itches. All except the price, which gouges open my miserly skin with a ragged fingernail: it's $83.99.

Very cool - but are you going to dust it yourself, or get the maid to do it?
Just $34 here:

The maid, duh. Her name is Maria. She's Swedish and very industrious.
I had a clock that used this mechanism back in high school. Favorite clock ever. I'd be tempted, too, but for the dust issue.
I'm not fazed at all by the price. It was less than I was expecting.
However, the cats will tear it to shreds. No dice.
I've had a similar clock for some years now, its pretty great, people love it too.

I have this clock & I love it! It was a gift from a friend who got it from http://www.chinavasion.com/.
The only thing that was weird was getting used to the click sound every time a minute clicks off. It was a little offsetting at first, "click" hey a minute just went by, (30 min's later) "click" hey another minute just...um....what have I gotten done in the last.....I'm going out side before I burn all of my tech & spend my life waiting for the next click.
I love this clock.

Note that if you get an old flip style clock at a thriftshop and take off the shell, it looks much like this clock.... And for $3!
Yoshitomo Nara made a custom flip clock a few years back featuring a slew of his trademark characters. I wanted one SO bad. The 00 face featured an expletive instead of numbers.

Man, but they are pricey.
Here's a video from a store selling it. Doesn't show it in actual motion and opts instead to show a woman dancing...

Groovy Retro Style!
I remember you could hit it hard and make the next minute flip down prematurely. I liked to do that for some reason.
